Reglement doxs!

1. Teilnahmebedingungen

1.1
Das doxs!-Festivalprogramm richtet sich an Kinder und Jugendliche von 4-18 Jahren. Für das Festivalprogramm können deutschsprachige sowie englisch untertitelte dokumentarische Film- und Fernsehproduktionen aus Europa eingereicht werden. Die eingereichten Filme dürfen nicht vor dem 12. Juni 2023 öffentlich aufgeführt oder für das Festival des Vorjahres eingereicht worden sein, sofern sie nicht vor Beginn der Auswahlsichtung zurückgezogen wurden. Die Länge der Beiträge ist prinzipiell nicht begrenzt.

Das Festival bietet Programme für folgende Publika:

  • Kinder 4-6 Jahre (Kita)
  • Kinder 6-10 Jahre (Grundschule)
  • Kinder / Jugendliche 10-18 Jahre (weiterführende Schule)
  • Familien

1.3
Es werden Produktionen in das Festivalprogramm aufgenommen, die

  1. die Gattung „Dokumentarfilm“ ästhetisch anspruchsvoll interpretieren. Klassische Beobachtungen sind ebenso willkommen wie experimentelle Mischformen und Grenzgänger des Genres
  2. die heterogenen Lebenswelten von Kindern und Jugendlichen adressieren
  3. durch ihre ästhetische und inhaltliche Umsetzung die Leidenschaft von jungen Menschen für die dokumentarische Filmkultur fördern

Die Entscheidung zur Aufnahme ins Programm trifft ein Programmbeirat, bestehend aus dem Festivalteam, Filmemacher*innen, Vertreter*innen der Branche, medienpädagogisch qualifizierten Lehrer*innen und Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen.
Die Auswahl für das Festival wird von Juli – August 2024 getroffen. Wird ein Film nicht im Programm aufgenommen, erhält die/der Einreichende eine Absage bis Ende August 2024.

Sichtungskopien zur Programmauswahl können als Online Screener oder im DVD-Format eingereicht werden. Termine und Einreichungsmodalitäten sind im Anmeldeformular festgelegt. Zur festivalinternen Vorbereitung und Programmauswahl (z.B. für Moderationen und/oder Texte) behält sich das Festival das Recht vor, Sichtungskopien weiterzugeben. Die für das Festival ausgewählten Beiträge werden als Projektion im Festivalkino in Duisburg gezeigt. Die Beiträge werden zudem für eine begrenzte Anzahl von Abrufen für ausgewählte Schulen und Akkreditierte digital verfügbar gemacht. Die Filme sind nach Absprache mit dem/der Rechteinhaber*in für max. 14 Tage, inklusive Geoblocking über eine zugangsbeschränkte Plattform für registrierte Nutzer*innen zu sehen.

Alle Vorführungen des Festivalprogramms sind für akkreditierte Festivalgäste und Schüler*innen kostenlos und werden von einem moderierten Publikumsgespräch begleitet.

2. Preise und Jurys

2.1
Der Preis „Die GROSSE KLAPPE“, gestiftet von der Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung, wird von einer jungen Dokumentarfilm-Jury aus nordrhein-westfälischen Schüler*innen ausgewählt. Diese kürt den Gewinner aus den nominierten Beiträgen für die Altersgruppe der 12- bis 18-Jährigen.

Mit dem Preis würdigt die Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung das dokumentarische Arbeiten für Kinder und Jugendliche in Europa. Ausgezeichnet werden Filme, die in besonderem Maße die ästhetische und politische Auseinandersetzung mit Dokumentarfilm fördern.

Das Preisgeld für die ausgezeichnete Regieleistung beträgt 5.000 Euro.

2.2
Der „ECFA Documentary Award“ wird von einer Fachjury, bestehend aus Mitgliedern der European Children’s Film Association, ausgewählt. Für diesen Wettbewerb nominiert werden können europäische Dokumentarfilmproduktionen aus dem doxs!-Programm, die sich an die Altersgruppe der 6-bis 12-Jährigen richten. Der Preis für die Regieleistung ist undotiert. Die Preisverleihung findet während des Festivals in Duisburg statt. 

3. Termine

3.1
Die Einreichung von Festivalbeiträgen hat bis zum 14. Juni 2024 über das offizielle Anmeldeformular zu erfolgen. Eingereichte Sichtungskopien verbleiben im Archiv von doxs!.

4. Versand von Einreichungen und Vorführkopien

4.1

4.2
Bei einer Einladung trägt der Anmelder die Kosten für den Hintransport der Festivalkopien, die Kosten für den Rücktransport der Veranstalter.

5. Schlussbestimmungen

5.1
Mit der Festivalteilnahme befreit der Einsender den Veranstalter von allen eventuellen Rechtsansprüchen Dritter, die sich durch die Aufführung eines Films ergeben können.

5.2
Alle nicht unter den vorangehenden Punkten enthaltenen Vorgaben werden von der Festivalleitung bestimmt. Gerichtsstand ist Duisburg.

5.3
Die Einreichung für doxs!, bedeutet die rechtskräftige Zustimmung zu den vorangehenden Regelungen.

Regulations doxs!

1. Terms of Participation

1.1
The doxs! festival programme addresses children and adolescents aged from 4-18 years. The festival programme is open to European documentary film and TV productions in German language or with English subtitles. The submitted films will only be accepted if not shown prior to June 12, 2023 and if not been submitted to the previous festival edition provided that they were not withdrawn before the beginning of the programme selection. There is no restriction in length.

The festival offers programmes for the following audiences:

  • children 4-6 years (kindergarten)
  • children 6-10 years (elementary school)
  • adolescents 10-18 years (secondary school)
  • families

1.3
Productions will be included in the festival programme that

  1. interpret the genre „documentary“ in an aesthetic way. Classic observations are welcome as well as experimental hybrids and crossover works.
  2. aim at the heterogeneous living environment of children and adolescents
  3. cultivate the passion for documentary film culture of young people via their realisation with regards to aesthetics and content.

1.4
A programme advisory committee consisting of the festival team, filmmakers, representatives of the branch and teachers qualified in media education and youngsters will decide upon the participation in the festival programme and the competition.
The decision about the festival programme will be held between July and August 2024. If the film will not be selected, the person submitting the film will receive a notification by the end of August 2024.

Formats of preview copies for the programme selection are online screener or DVDs. Deadlines and submission modalities are stipulated in the entry form. The festival may hand the screeners to a third party for organizational or programming reasons. By submitting the film the applicant permits the festival to do so. All selected festival contributions will be projected in the festival cinema in Duisburg.

Selected films will be available digitally via Online Streaming to a limited amount of schools and guests with accreditation. In accordance with the right holders, the films are available for max. 14 days, including Geoblocking in a password restricted platform for registered guests. Each screening is accompanied by a moderated Q&A. The entry to all screenings is free for accredited festival guests and pupils.

2. Jury & Awards

2.1
The award “GROSSE KLAPPE”, endowed by the Federal Agency of Civic Education, is selected by a youth jury consisting of pupils from North Rhine-Westphalia. The jury decides upon the winner out of the nominated contributions for the age group of 12-18. With this award the Federal Agency of Civic Education honours documentary works for children and adolescents in Europe. The award is dedicated to films notably supporting the aesthetical and political analysis of documentary films. The prize money for direction amounts to 5.000 Euro.

2.2
The „ECFA Documentary Award“ is selected by an expert jury consisting of members of the European Children’s Film Association. European documentaries, which are part of the doxs! programme and aimed at the age group of 6 to 12-year olds, can be nominated for this competition. The prize, which is given to the director, does not involve any money. The award ceremony takes place during the festival in Duisburg.

3. Deadlines

Deadline for the submission of festival entries via the official entry form is June 14, 2024.
The submitted preview copies remain in the doxs! archives.

4.2
In the case of an invitation the transport costs of screening prints to the festival are paid by the sender. The costs for one return shipment of screening prints are paid by the festival.

5. Final terms

5.1
With the participation in the festival the person submitting the film/video frees the organizers from any potential legal right claimed by a third party that may result from the screening of the selected films.

5.2
All items not included in the above-mentioned terms are defined by the festival direction.
Place of jurisdiction is Duisburg.

5.3
The submission for doxs! implies the legally binding agreement to the enclosed regulations in their current valid form.
